- George Russell goes into the gravel, and causes a red flag delay as they need have vehicles on track to retrieve his car
- Kevin Magnussen might have pole position, because he was one of the few drivers who managed to complete a flying lap before George had his spin
- While George's car is being retrieved, it starts raining, leading to DRS being disabled
- LeClerc is not happy with Ferrari's indecisiveness and tire chaos — probably cost him the ability to set a fast lap time
- Magnussen may well retain his pole position
- Most teams have given up on qualifying as the rain intensifies and soaks the track
